You need to secure the latch into the edge of the door with the screws provided. Point the curved side of the latch toward the direction the door closes as this is very important. If the latch is put on backwards it will not close. Its now time to line up the mounting plate these are the circles that will be fit on both sides with the latch mechanism. Usually there is two screw holes that attach the mounting plates to the door. Screw and tighten the screws making sure that the mounting plates are flush against the door. Some door knobs require you to do this on both sides while others require only a single side. You may also need to insert two long screws to hold it all together. Do a final check to ensure that the mounting plate circles completely cover the hole before tightening the screws down.
There are several styles for the doors. One of these is the inset door design. This design is available only for framed cabinets because it has to stay within the rails and stiles of the frame. There is a special design of knob for them but the dark colored ones will always do. An almost similar design to the inset door is the lipped door. Lipped door is applicable only for framed cabinet door. It requires having rails and stiles wherein the they could rest. Aside from that it also needs to have a specific type of knob to help open it.
You know when you walk into some peoples homes and you feel the wow factor and maybe you feel a touch of the green-eyed monster as well. Even though they dont have more money than you somehow or other they have transformed their home into something awesome and stylish. There are subtle and clever touches here and there such as the elegant sophistication of matching turning door knobs to the rest of the decor. Lets face it for some of us pulling this type of elegance off is a big challenge.
For instance during the 60s and 70s there was a drive to change out the antique door knobs to match the fashions of the time. Now 30 years later those knobs may seem antiquated but not in the right way. Now you can fix things by getting the real antique door knobs that match your home and change them back. The best way to know if your home needs a change back to antique door knobs is to ask it. That doesnt mean you need to talk to the walls or anything but as you walk around your house take notice of the doors.
