On May 6, 2006, I gave my first voice recital. I had been studying with Kevin Wilson at Brown for two years, and I believe that I made tremendous strides during that time. My recital was relatively short, and had only a dozen or so people in the audience, but it was still a good and important experience for me. I believe that it went well; unfortunately, I lost my recording of it when I moved out of my place in Providence, just a few months later. At any rate, I have fond memories of it, and I feel that it did mark a transition for me. It was around this time that I really started to think of myself as a singer.

Two good friends, Emily Senturia and Michelle Menard, also performed — Emily played piano for all the pieces, and Michelle sang soprano for a couple of duets.
I also had a fun time writing (liberal!) translations for the pieces I sang. I reproduce a couple of them here:
