Savoynet has announced its cast for our Festival Pinafore.  I’m Dick Deadeye!  I’m very surprised and pleased and excited.  It’s absolutely my top choice of a role for that show.  In fact, it’s the only role that I think I’d get really excited about.  (When I’m a bit older, I’m sure I’ll be eager to do some Captains Corcoron.)  I can’t wait!

    The cast list:

Sir Joseph Porter: Samuel Silvers (U.S.)
    Captain Corcoran: Ian Henderson (U.K.)
    Ralph Rackstraw: Davron Hicks (U.K.)
    Dick Deadeye: Jonathan Ichikawa (U.S.)
    Boatswain: Tony Smith (U.K.)
    Carpenter: Laurence Weissbrot (U.S.)
    Josephine: Rebecca Hains (U.S.)
    Hebe: Laura Schatz (Canada)
    Buttercup: Angela Lowe (Belgium)

Davron is the only one I don’t know.  I’m very excited to work with this group!

Hi, this is my new theater page. There’s nothing here yet, and it’s also ugly; check back soon.

My G&S blog is still in the same place: http://savoy.jollyutter.net/blog/

    NYGASP Yeomen

I saw the NYGASP Yeomen of the Guard at City Center. I loved it. My full review is here.
Here’s the cast page from the program (click for full size):

Andi gave me a backstage tour before the show, which was highly awesome.

Stephen Quint, who gave a very fine Jack Point, links to reviews here and here.

The opening night of this production of Yeomen, Shana Farr stepped in for Laurelyn Watson-Chase’s Elsie — everyone I’ve spoken to said she was excellent.  In the production I saw, we had Laurelyn for real; I know first-hand that she was excellent.  Among the best I’ve ever seen.

    Die Zauberflöte at the Met

I went to the Met for the first time ever and saw Die Zauberflöte. It was an absolutely gorgeous production, and I was just enthralled by the theatrical magic and wonderful music.

I’ve misplaced my program, it seems. Here’s my ticket stub, anyway.
