Hi! Come click around. It'll be awesome. This is a page for me, Jonathan Ichikawa, and theatery stuff. The 'about' page is here, if you're one of those people who needs things like that.

  • About

I’m Jonathan. I’m working on getting an awesome career going as a philosopher; you can read about that here. This page is about my greatest extra-curricular interest, which can be described broadly as the theater. I’m particularly interested in opera and operetta, and my performing specialty is Gilbert & Sullivan. This website is about my experiences, as performer, as audience member, and as guy who’s heavily involved in shows outside both those capacities. You know, like, directing and stuff.

This site is half blog, to keep the world updated on what I’m up to, theaterwise, and half archive, to let me get my thoughts and pictures and things down such that I won’t lose them right away. I can be pretty organized on the internet; it’s much easier than being organized in life. (For in sooth, I have tried both!)

A note about the organization of this site: although this is technically a weblog, a lot of it is retrospective. That is, I’ll be posting about shows that I did years ago. And when I do, I’ll give them dates from years ago, so it all ends up in order. But that means that the “most recent” posts won’t always be the newest ones. Don’t be confused.

If you’ve been in a show with me and want to contribute thoughts or pictures or links to other pages or anything, please send them my way. I want this to sort of end up as something of a theatrical scrapbook. It’ll be cool.

Ooh ooh! I can’t wait til you do Butter Battle and Mikado! I don’t think I have any pictures or anything helpful, other than the video. :) Oh, and the magnet that Leslie made me, although it’s very faded.
    In other news, how’s life?
